For intra-state transactions (buyer and seller in the same state), GST is split equally between CGST (Central GST) and SGST (State GST). For inter-state transactions, only IGST (Integrated GST) applies at the full rate. For example, on an 18% GST intra-state transaction, CGST = 9% and SGST = 9%.
To find the base price from a GST-inclusive amount, use the formula: Base Price = Total Amount ÷ (1 + GST Rate/100). For example, if the total is ₹11,800 with 18% GST, the base price is ₹11,800 ÷ 1.18 = ₹10,000. Select "Remove GST (Inclusive)" above to do this instantly.
India has four main GST slabs: 5% (essential items like sugar, spices, small restaurants), 12% (standard goods like butter, mobile phones, processed foods), 18% (most services, AC restaurants, manufactured goods), and 28% (luxury goods like cars, tobacco, aerated drinks). Items like fresh vegetables and milk are exempt (0%).
